All our doctors are affiliated with the Royal New Zealand College of GP’s and can provide a full range of general practice consultations. We allocate 15 minutes for consultations which is generally enough time to deal with one major or two minor issues. If you have several complex issues, you will need to book a double appointment. We do our best to run to time, but the unpredictable nature of our work means that sometimes there may be a wait.

Our team are experienced with children and their health needs. We enjoy catching up with our young patients at the time of their 6 week, 3 month, 5 month, 18 month and 4 year old visits, in addition to the usual Plunket visits. All our nurses are trained in immunisations.

The way Cervical Screening is done in New Zealand is changing with the introduction of HPV testing as the primary screening test. You now have the option of doing a self-swab. The ‘old-way’ will still need to be used in certain circumstances, but you now have options.
For those who are uncomfortable with having a cervical sample taken (what used to be called a smear test) or who have put off getting screened, the new test will be less invasive. The option to self-test means that some who have been hesitant to get screened are more inclined to do so.
The HPV test is very accurate at detecting HPV which causes more than 95% of cervical cancers.

There’s no ‘right’ way to check your breasts. But it's important to know your normal and check regularly for any unusual changes.
Your breasts will change over the course of a month. Overtime you will learn what is normal for you when you touch and look regularly. Our doctors can help you to do this.
If you’ve found something that doesn’t seem normal, it’s important to chat with your doctor.

If you have prostate symptoms or concerns such as problems urinating or blood in your urine or semen, see your doctor to get checked.
Checks for prostate cancer symptoms normally involve a blood test, called the PSA test and a rectal examination.
If you have a family history of prostate cancer (a father or brother who has had prostate cancer), please talk to your doctor. You may benefit from tests starting from around age 40.
Detecting prostate cancer early may reduce the chance of dying from prostate cancer.

Insurance medicals are often required prior to an insurance provider approving your level of cover.
The level of assessment will depend on the cover you are seeking, and the specific requirements of the insurance provider. It can take some time to gather information together and get results that they may need so please arrange with us as soon as you can.
As part of applying for some form of medical or life insurance, the provider is likely to ask for permission to obtain the appropriate health information from your doctor. This is a critical part of the process to enable us to play our part in your insurance application. The level of information shared will be detailed as part of your application.

We can provide medical certificates for a variety of reasons, including for:
Illness or injury, where time off work is needed
General health status certification for work/driving
Medical fitness recreational activity such as PADI certificates for diving
Renewal of ACC-related return to work certificates
Work and income (WINZ) forms
Please ensure you advise the reason for your medical certificate request when booking this service.
A standard medical consultation fee applies for this service, price can vary depending on the reason for the certificate and the assessment consultation time involved.

When applying for a NZ driver’s licence, renewing or replacing your licence, you are required to fill out and sign a medical declaration form. You will sometimes need to produce a medical certificate stating you are able to drive safely. We can help with this examination when required.
Our doctors and nurses can give you an eye test and carry out a driver’s licence medical assessment to ensure your fitness to drive. A medical fitness certificate for a driving licence is easy to arrange and it also means that you have had a basic health check.
You will need to arrange an appointment and ask for a Driving Licence Medical Test.
Reasons why you may require a Driving Licence Medical Certificate
All people applying for or renewing a heavy vehicle licence.
Those who require a licence with endorsements for passengers: recovery services, driving instructors and testing officers.
Older drivers aged 75 or over.
Applicants with a medical condition that could have an effect on their ability to drive safely.
A medical certificate for a driver’s licence may be requested at the discretion of the NZTA.

Repeat prescriptions are available for long-term medications when your condition is stable, and no medication alterations are needed. The decision to approve or decline a medication lies with the prescriber.
The turn around time for a repeat prescription is generally 48 hours, however if your need is urgent, please let us know (extra charges apply).
Repeat prescriptions can be ordered online through your patient portal. If unsure about your repeat prescription, or if there are any issues, contact our medical centre and ask to speak with the nurse.
